PINEAPPLE CREAM PIE

1 cup sugar
2 ½ cups boiling water
1 can crushed pineapple
2 ½ cups boiling water
1 can crushed pineapple
6 tbsps. cornstarch
4 egg yolks
½ cup butter

Bring above ingredients to a boil over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and chill before pouring into a prepared piecrust.
MERINGUE TOPPING

2 egg white
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 325 to 350 degrees.
Beat egg white until frothy. Add cream of tartar and continue beating until stiff, but not dry, peak form. Do not over beat. Beat in vanilla. Spread on pudding or pie and bake 10 to 15 minutes.
